Is it possible / a good idea to paint vinyl siding? How would this be done?

go to Sherwin Williams. They have three paints that you can use for vinyl siding. They have a brochure of colors to chose from. Go to your local store and ask for what to do to prep the surface to guarantee a final coat that will last for years. Is it possible / a good idea to paint vinyl siding? How would this be done?
It's possible, but not a good idea. Trust me, I know from experience, if you simply pressure wash and then paint, the paint will not stick. In a very short time it will begin to peel, and will look much worse than if you had just left it alone. I have heard, from not completely reliable sources, that you can pressure wash, clean with vinyl cleaner, apply a good primer/sealer, then paint, and you can expect about 4 or 5 years before it goes to hell and starts to peel. If you consider the preparation time and materials, it would be cheaper to install new siding, and be guaranteed 15 to 20 years service. Is it possible / a good idea to paint vinyl siding? As others have offered, the whole idea in vinyl siding is that it never needs paint. I am not even sure it's possible to paint it nor would or should you want to try. Replace the vinyl siding with the color of your choice or leave it alone. If you have an HOA in your community, you would have to go through them for any changes and I cannot imagine they would agree to painting vinyl if it could even be done.
The whole idea of using vinyl siding was that it wouldn't need to be painted.

I wouldn't recommend it. The paint might not stick and then you'd have a terrible mess.
use bleach and a pressure washer to clean it instead
