That depends! If there's peeling paint then wait 3 days for the surface dry and let the escaping moisture pop off anyother loose paint. Otherwise just wait 2 while doing any repairs or prep like caulking.
make sure it's dry, 12-24 hours. test it if you can't wait.

probly just a hour or 2 if it is wood if is palsitic as soon as it looks dry
don't wait too long because it might get dirty and you don't want to paint over dirt.
