How many square feet of wall and ceiling surface do u need to paint??

The floor and ceiling r rectangular, 20 ft by 15ft. The doorway into the room is 3ft by 7ft. There r 2 rectangular windows on one wall each one measuring 3ft by 4ft. On another wall there is a circular window whose radius is 1ft. On the fourth wall there is an entrance to another wall tht measures 8ft by 7ft. The height of the room is 9ft.

i got confused on this question and on how to do it

can someone plz help me, thx!How many square feet of wall and ceiling surface do u need to paint??
Here's what you do:

You have this huge room, but then there is a bunch of area that you DON'T need to paint.

So, first find the area of the whole thing and then subtract the areas of everything you don't need to paint

so the surface area of the entire room is 2(20x15) + 2(9x15) + 2(20x9) = 1110 sq. ft

Now find the areas of everything u dont need to paint:

doorway - 3x7 = 21

windows - 2(3x4) = 24

circ. window - 蟺(1)^2 = 蟺

entrance - 8x7 = 56

1110 - 21-24-蟺-56 = 1005.86 sq ft should be painted

hope it helpsHow many square feet of wall and ceiling surface do u need to paint??
It might help if you draw this out.

floor %26amp; ceiling are 20 x 15 each, right?

= 300 + 300

= 600

plus four walls

wall 1 = 9 x 20 =_______

wall 2 = 9 x 15 =______

wall 3 = 9 x 20 =_______

wall 4 = 9 x 15 =______

Total area of the four walls (add up the above): ______

Then add the 600 to the total of the four walls. This is your total area without any windows or doorways. Then you have to subtract the area of each window or doorway:

less the door which is 3x7 = 21

less the window area = pi times r squared

=3.142 x 1 squared

=9.87

less the entrance =8x7 =56

so now you can get your final answer
