How is the best way to remove gloss paint from a stonework fireplace? Thank you.?

some people haven't a clue have they?

i mean we got loads of diy stores b%26amp;Q, homecare, wickes etc etc and yet people haven't a clue what they are doing with the things they buy from such places

the best way to get rid of the paint though is to sandblast it off!!! i think you can hire one out!!

if you do use one don't forget to have yer bucket and spade handy - it'll feel like you've just returned from a holiday in southport!!How is the best way to remove gloss paint from a stonework fireplace? Thank you.?

You may be best with a specialist company. How is the best way to remove gloss paint from a stonework fireplace? Thank you.?
wire wool or scouring pad. remove as much as you can then a really good nail polishish remover if you cant get to the shops and buy pint stripper, Good luck
You will need Paint Stripper,,,,,read the instructions carefully,,,,
You could try a product called Krud Kutter but it would be best to talk to someone at your local stone/brick yard to make the best recommendation
Sandblasting is about the only safe way. If you use chemicals, not only will it hurt the material below, it will break down the paint and make it absorb into the stone.

You need to hire someone to do this, and they have to sandblast the paint off and blast into the stone to remove the paint that absorbed into the stone.
depends how long it's been on, try some turps on a scouring pad
A hard wire brush might remove some of it, but I rather think you are stuck with it - sorry:(
